  • Surveillance

    Stakeout Services

When a respondent is evasive, uncooperative, or simply impossible to pin down, a stakeout may be the most effective path to successful service. Our licensed processors conduct professional, discreet surveillance at a known location — a residence, workplace, or regular haunt — and serve the documents the moment the respondent appears.

FAQ

Common questions, straight answers

Everything you need to know about how process serving works, what to expect, and how we handle your documents.

General5 questions

About Our Services

  • EZ Serve Texas covers Harris County and surrounding counties. Whether you need service in Houston, Pasadena, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, or the broader Greater Houston area, we have the reach and relationships to get it done.

  • You receive a signed proof of service (affidavit) once the documents have been delivered. We also provide status updates throughout the process so you're never left wondering.

  • We serve all civil process documents including summons and complaints, subpoenas, divorce and family law papers, eviction notices, small claims documents, and more. If you're unsure whether your documents qualify, contact us and we'll confirm.

  • Yes. We can pick up citations from any court in the counties we serve. Texas courts are increasingly adopting e-issuance, which makes this process even smoother. For best results, when preparing your civil process form ask the clerk to call you when the citation is ready. Once you receive that call, simply send us an email and we will coordinate pickup and proceed directly to service.

  • A stakeout service means one of our licensed processors will position themselves at a known location — typically the respondent's residence or workplace — and wait for the respondent to appear so service can be completed on the spot. It's the right call when standard attempts have failed, when the respondent is known to avoid answering the door, or when you have a narrow window of time and need a high-probability attempt. Stakeout can be requested as a stand-alone service or paired with Regular, Emergency, or Saturday service.

Timing3 questions

Turnaround & Deadlines

  • Regular service is completed within 3–5 business days. Emergency service is attempted within 24 hours of receipt. Saturday service is available for time-sensitive matters that can't wait until Monday.

  • We make multiple attempts at different times of day. If service cannot be completed after reasonable attempts, we will notify you and discuss alternative methods such as substitute service or posting, as permitted by Texas law.

  • Yes. When submitting your request, you can specify a preferred 3-hour time window. We'll do our best to accommodate it, though exact timing cannot be guaranteed for all locations.

Pricing5 questions

Fees & Billing

  • Standard service includes up to three attempts at no additional charge. If additional attempts are required beyond that, we'll discuss options with you before proceeding.

  • Emergency service is priced at a higher tier to reflect the priority handling and 24-hour turnaround commitment. See the Pricing section on this page for the starting range, and submit a request for an exact quote based on your specific situation.

  • Yes. Law firms and legal departments with ongoing service needs can contact us to discuss volume pricing and account setup. We work with firms of all sizes across Texas.

  • Stakeout services are billed at an hourly rate because the time commitment varies depending on the respondent's schedule and the agreed surveillance window. Contact us or submit a request and we'll provide a quote based on your specific situation.

  • Court citation pickup is available as a stand-alone service or as an add-on to Regular or Emergency Service. Pricing depends on the courthouse location and whether it is combined with service of process. Submit a request or contact us for a quote.
